Volunteers are at the heart of what we do at CityLax. Are you interested in joining our volunteer community? We are volunteer-friendly for young NYC professionals!

Volunteer Opportunities

This is a PSAL event that features 40 teams and takes place on Randall’s Island in mid-March.

  • Coaching opportunities
  • Sponsor support
  • Planning and execution

Our Junior Advisory Board leads our volunteers and assists our Board of Directors.

We need help with:

  • Planning and execution of events
  • Recruitment of volunteers
  • and more!

CityLax is pleased to announce a new program that will offer student athletes the opportunity to engage with professionals off the field.  As much as we believe in our great sport of lacrosse, we also know that ultimately our students will enter college and eventually the work force and need the tools necessary to become a member of a TEAM.

Our Off the Field initiatives span from providing college preparation guidance on a one-on-one basis to visits to professional places of work in the greater New York City area, to community service days, where volunteers and student athletes offer their hands towards a specific area of need.

Are you a past high-school or college player, or just love the game and want to pass along the gift?

Become a coach or mentor at one of our Winter Clinic Sites!

Winter clinic sites are located in each of the Five Boroughs (the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Staten Island, and Queens).

Student-athletes are high school level and range from beginners to advanced players.

This is our big annual fundraiser.

We need help with:

  • gathering auction items,
  • financial planning,
  • selling ad space in the program,
  • and selling ticket packages.

This is our annual adult lacrosse tournament, featuring collegiate and post-collegiate players.

We need help with:

  • Planning and execution

This is a coaching opportunity. Clinics/scrimmages occur weekly on Thursday evenings at Pier 40 during the summer months.

Volunteers Help Our Student-Athletes Succeed

Hadley Mongell

“My favorite CityLax memory is telling a new player at one of our clinics that, yes, she could get a scholarship for playing goalie. To see the relief and excitement on her face when she found out that this was an opportunity for her to get farther in life than maybe was possible before was one of the moments that I’ll always cherish.”

“One of the really powerful things that I’ve experienced is that the conversations went from being just about lacrosse to now including what they’re going to do after high school. I think that those conversations are more important than lacrosse itself. As volunteers, we get to help grow these student-athletes from being teenagers into adults.”

“I feel really fortunate that I have been able to be a role model and positive influence in so many girls lives over the years. The most rewarding thing for me is seeing someone through the full four years and how excited they are to say, ‘Coach, I got accepted to these colleges and this is what I’m going to do!’ when I knew them back as a freshman when they were trying to just get their feet beneath them.”
