CityLax joins forces with the only HBCU D1 lax program
The Hampton University Pirates raise awareness and funds for an important cause to the program
CityLax is helping the first and only Division I HBCU men’s lacrosse program, the Hampton University Pirates, raise awareness and funds for an important cause that benefits the team and the university.
Hampton head coach Vincent Culpepper’s squad has partnered with the National Cemetery Administration at the Hampton National Cemetery (located on campus) for Operation Rose Memorial. The team plans on placing a rose on every single gravesite in the cemetery where more than 26,000 veterans have been laid to rest.
"The team wanted to honor the veterans that have been laid to rest here. We decided to start this project asking for donations for roses, and our guys will lay the roses on each grave at the end of this campaign. This is a way to support the veterans that have been laid to rest here along with the Hampton University lacrosse program," said Culpepper.
Operation Rose Memorial is not only a tribute to those who sacrificed for our country, but also a fundraiser that supports the only HBCU Division I Men’s Lacrosse program in the nation.
For every $10 donation, a rose will be purchased and placed on a veteran’s gravesite by the HU coaching staff and lacrosse student-athletes.
"We are excited to help coach Culpepper and the team with Operation Rose Memorial," said CityLax CEO Rich Lisk. "Part of our mission is to advance the game. Whatever our community can do to help Hampton with their initiative would be appreciated."
