About CityLax Albany
In 2017, Albany, New York joined Brooklyn, New York and Cleveland, Ohio as one of the three cities that make up the Lacrosse Communities Project, a new initiative by US Lacrosse, Inc., the sport’s national governing body.
Through partnerships with schools and community-based organizations in each city, the projects will work to create a vertically-integrated series of opportunities for children to participate in lacrosse from grade school through adulthood. The initiative aims to expand the reach of US Lacrosse programs into underserved urban populations while propelling the organization’s mission of providing accessibility and opportunity for kids across the country.
The Lacrosse Communities Project: Albany is being led by CityLax AlbaNY (Albany Lacrosse Club) in collaboration with the City of Albany, the City School District of Albany, the Albany Police Athletic League, the Adirondack Chapter of US Lacrosse, and the Beverwyck Lacrosse Club/Youth Life Support Network, among others. CityLax AlbaNY is an affiliate of CityLax, Inc. which has operated in New York City for over 12 years.
